| Right you asked for it Mr Petch. I need to be careful about what I say about the legend that is Mr Petch as he does have the power to kill me. Anthony joined the club back in 2003 and started out in the 2nd XI. Since then he has made numerous appearances for the side since the second team ceased to be. His fielding ranging from the sublime with wonder catches at short cover, to the ridiculous with fumbles over the boundary. His batting follows a similar pattern. For me the highlight of his cricketing career at Whitehall is that when playing Halifax Direct at Bedquilts he took a storming catch. Fielding very close to the bat, a middled cover drive sped towards him, unable to react in time to avoid the ball in crushed into his groin region. His immediate reaction was to clasp the injured area in pain, as he did he clung on to the ball, and thus claiming a magical catch. Fortunately it didn't do any lasting damage as he became a father in 2006. Captain of West Leeds Rugby 3XV he's one of the leading on the field motivaters when he plays. He claims to have been born in 1970 some claim he looks older, neither claim has yet been proved to satisfactory level. |
