| Long trip in vain. |
| Whitehall made probably their longest trip of the season up to Baildon in high spirits after the impressive performance against Wibsey. Leaving a grey Leeds nobody was 100% sure whether we'd get a game today or not. Arriving at Baildon though we were optomistic as the pitch looked playable and the only problem hurdle was the slight drizzle in the air. However nobody from Baildon seemed to be about, and the umpire wasn't keen on playing either. Finally at 1-20 Baildon's captain turned up and along with umpire didn't want to play, especially after the umpire had deemed the pitch unsafe, and Baidlon's captain took this as gospel and agreed with the umpire leaving Woody on his own and out voted on the state of the pitch. To add insult to injury 3 games locally, 1 only yards away all had some play. Perhaps the FA cup final involving a side from London and a side from Liverpool by have had an impact on the calling off of this game. Its a shame that people would rather watch football than play cricket, especially when the side they are playing have had to travel from Leeds through very bad traffic. So all in all a disappointing day and probably 4 points dropped. At least they got to see a good cup final. Whitehall would have lined up as follows:- M Wood, M Wright, A Dunne, J Bainbridge, P White, S Mace, S Haw, D Bond, R Finch, C Thompson, T Thompson. |
