| Joe joined Whitehall with Aidan early in 2005. He made his debut against Farsley at Becketts park on the 14th May. However as Whitehall won that game by 9 wickets after bowling Farsley out for 36 he didn't get chance to make an impact. However a fortnight later when Pudsey St Lawerence Joe announced his arrival to the Dales Council. He contributed 12 to Whitehall's reasonable total of 123, however it wasn't until Pudsey started to chase the total down, and at 24-0, Joe bowled his first ball for Whitehall, his 15 overs helped turn the game. He ended with figures of 28-3 as Whitehall scraped home by 10 runs. Joe then established himself as part of Whitehall's 4 prong pace attack alongside Simon Mace, Paul Dockerty and Matt Hullah. He took wickets regularly through out the season at a very reasonable rate of less than 18.5 a wicket and less than 4 runs an over. His batting was also very consistent with only 2 blips with 2 ducks in the middle part of the season, however sandwiched in the middle of those two short innings was Joe's finest innings, a knock of 46 against New Farnley. However Joe's best moment of 2005 was his bowling spell of 5-46, which was only blighted by the bizzarest spell of spin bowling you will ever see. 2006 started slowly for Bainbridge which saw him used as one of the 2 opening bowlers, however he took career best figures of 7-43 against Wibsey (which took his wicket tally to 16 against the Bradford club.). Joe's fielding is alway dependable and his quick fire batting style can dig Whitehall out of a hole and turn a game, as can his bowling. |
